France Artist Residency Grants Now Open to Pakistani Creatives

Islamabad: France has invited Pakistani artists and creative professionals to apply for fully funded residency grants in 2025, providing recipients the opportunity to live and develop projects in France for one to two months. This initiative aims to boost artistic collaboration between France and Pakistan, covering areas such as music, visual arts, cinema, literature, fashion, design, and various other creative disciplines.
The residency program, sponsored by the French Embassy in Pakistan, offers extensive financial support to selected artists. Participants will receive a monthly stipend of €1700 alongside coverage for roundtrip economy-class airfare from Pakistan to France. The program also covers second-class rail travel within France, where necessary, along with insurance and social security for the duration of the residency.
The opportunity is specifically available to Pakistani nationals holding valid Pakistani passports. French citizens and individuals with dual French-Pakistani nationality are not eligible for this particular initiative. Residencies will take place between October 15 and December 31, 2025, providing artists adequate time to fully engage with and complete their creative projects.

Proposed creative projects must emphasize artistic research or professional development and must be hosted by recognized art residency organizations in France. Preference will be given to proposals involving institutions recommended by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, highlighting the importance of the choice of venue and alignment with the current artistic network and landscape in France.
Applicants are instructed to submit their proposals before August 19 via email. Applications must include the candidate’s curriculum vitae (CV) or portfolio, a concise project summary, and official confirmation from the selected host institution. All provided documents should be submitted in PDF format with a maximum combined file size of 5 MB. Submissions using file transfer platforms such as WeTransfer will not be accepted. Successful applicants will be notified by August 21.
French language proficiency is not a requirement for application. Instead, projects will be assessed based on artistic merit, the relevance to the artist’s career trajectory, connection to the French artistic community, and contributions to diversity and inclusivity. Upon completion, the recipients must submit a comprehensive report detailing their residency experience to the French Embassy within three months.
The Embassy welcomes queries from prospective applicants who require clarification or further details, especially regarding potential host institutions. However, communication is limited strictly to direct email correspondence.
This residency program reflects France’s ongoing commitment to encourage cross-cultural dialogue and exchange through the arts, underlining their support for diverse global voices and the enhancement of international artistic collaboration.
