Barrister Danyal Chaudhary, Convener of the Pakistan–Romania Parliamentary Friendship Group and Parliamentary Secretary for Information & Broadcasting, met with H.E. Dan Stoenescu, Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan, to discuss ways to deepen bilateral ties through enhanced parliamentary cooperation, media and cultural partnerships, and expanded people-to-people and economic links.
Both officials emphasized the value of parliamentary diplomacy as a foundation for stronger bilateral relations. They agreed to use the Pakistan–Romania Parliamentary Friendship Group as a platform to increase inter-parliamentary dialogue, identify new areas for trade and economic cooperation, and pursue institutional collaboration that supports mutual legislative and policy engagement.
Media collaboration emerged as a priority in the talks. The Romanian Embassy is pursuing partnerships with the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation to promote cultural understanding and information exchange. Delegates noted potential cooperation between Radio Romania and Radio Pakistan, as well as Romania TV and Pakistan Television (PTV), to foster regular content sharing and joint programming.
Cultural and educational initiatives were highlighted as important drivers of people-to-people ties. The Ambassador briefed Barrister Danyal on the recent launch of opera singing courses at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts, organized in collaboration with Romanian partners, which was praised for its contribution to artistic development. The Embassy is also working with Pakistani academic institutions to introduce Romanian language courses, with the first program due to begin at the National University of Modern Languages in Islamabad. These steps are intended to broaden cultural exchange and create academic pathways to Romania.
To document and promote these developments, Barrister Danyal proposed producing a documentary in collaboration with the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting to showcase the Romanian Embassy’s initiatives and key milestones in Pakistan–Romania relations. The Ambassador welcomed the proposal.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to take concrete steps to formalize people-to-people linkages, strengthen cultural ties, expand media and educational cooperation, and enhance parliamentary exchanges to further advance bilateral diplomacy.
