Speaker Ayaz Sadiq to Swear In PRAP Leaders

Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq met a delegation from the Parliamentary Reporters Association of Pakistan (PRAP) at the Parliament House in Islamabad on October 10, 2025. The delegation was led by PRAP President M.B. Soomro and included Secretary Naveed Akbar, Ahmed Nawaz and Javed Noor.

The Speaker congratulated the newly elected PRAP office-bearers and acknowledged the critical role parliamentary reporters play in ensuring transparent and accurate coverage of legislative proceedings. He welcomed the delegation’s request that he administer the oath to the newly elected PRAP body and agreed to do so during the upcoming session of the National Assembly.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq underlined the importance of a free and professional press, noting that parliamentary reporters act as an essential bridge between the legislature and the public. He said, “Journalism plays a pivotal role in strengthening democratic institutions and promoting public awareness,” and stressed that such reporting helps citizens stay informed about parliamentary decisions and processes.

The Speaker reaffirmed that the National Assembly Secretariat will provide full cooperation and facilitation to PRAP. He assured the delegation that the Secretariat will continue to extend complete support to PRAP and its newly elected body in all matters related to parliamentary coverage, enabling reporters to carry out their duties effectively.
