In Islamabad, Pakistan Peoples Party senior leader Chaudhry Riaz hosted an iftar dinner for political colleagues, local notables and friends, using the occasion to address the country’s current challenges. He said Pakistan is passing through a delicate phase and is confronting pressures along its eastern and western borders.
Chaudhry Riaz commended the armed forces for responding to those challenges with bravery and prudence, and he emphasized that the Pakistani nation stands shoulder to shoulder with its troops. He highlighted the need for national solidarity at a time when the military is managing sensitive security situations.
Referring to President Asif Ali Zardari, Chaudhry Riaz described the president’s address to the joint sitting of parliament as reflecting the sentiments of the nation. He urged all peace‑minded forces to join efforts and cooperate to help steer the region out of the present turmoil.
