The sixth round of bilateral political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria and Pakistan was held in Islamabad.<\/p>\n
The Bulgarian delegation was led by Ambassador Petko Doykov, Director General for Bilateral Relations, while the Pakistani delegation was headed by Ambassador Ayesha Ali, Additional Secretary (Europe).<\/p>\n
During the consultations, both sides highlighted the long standing ties of traditional friendship between Bulgaria and Pakistan and conducted a comprehensive review of their bilateral relations. They identified priorities and initiatives for the further development and strengthening of political and parliamentary dialogue, as well as cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade, economy, education, culture, information and communication technologies, defense, tourism, and people to-people contacts.<\/p>\n
Special attention was given to the cooperation between the two countries within international organizations, particularly mutual support for candidatures. The delegations also discussed relations and cooperation between the EU and Pakistan, with a particular focus on the EU’s GSP+ preferential trade scheme, and exchanged views on current regional and international issues.<\/p>\n
It was agreed that the seventh round of bilateral political consultations will be held in Sofia at a mutually convenient time.<\/p>\n
As part of his two day visit to Islamabad, Ambassador Petko Doykov was also received by Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch. His programme further included meetings with Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, the Secretary of Economic Affairs Division, and the conveners of the Bulgaria Friendship Groups in the Senate and the National Assembly of Pakistan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
