ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has introduced a new merit-based selection system for the national senior men\u2019s hockey team\u2019s World Cup training camp, with the stated aim of ensuring transparency, fairness and the selection of the best-performing players.<\/p>\n
According to the federation, players will be assessed in five key areas: game awareness, technical skills, physical fitness, mental strength and attitude.<\/p>\n
During the trials and the training camp, the coaching staff will award each player marks from one to five in every category.<\/p>\n
Under the proposed criteria, a player will be required to score at least three or above in a minimum of three out of the five evaluation areas to qualify for the World Cup training camp.<\/p>\n
The PHF said the proposed selection framework had been prepared by international coaches in accordance with global standards. It added that modern technology, including GPS tracking systems and video performance analysis, would also be used to evaluate players and make the selection process transparent and objective.<\/p>\n
The proposed criteria and recommendations will be presented to the Selection Committee and the President of the Pakistan Hockey Federation for final approval.<\/p>\n
