KARACHI: A team from Super Micro Computer Inc. (Supermicro), the US-based server and data centre major, has visited Pakistan to assess the feasibility of installing next-generation artificial intelligence chips at Data Vault Pakistan\u2019s Karachi facility.<\/p>\n
The review is understood to centre on the possible deployment of Nvidia\u2019s advanced Blackwell-class B200 and B300 accelerators, along with the GB300 NVL72 rack-scale platform. The system connects 72 Blackwell Ultra GPUs into a single liquid-cooled arrangement designed for high-end AI workloads.<\/p>\n
Headquartered in San Jose, California, Supermicro has been moving rapidly into sovereign AI infrastructure markets across the world. The company includes Telenor among its global ecosystem partners for sovereign AI and AI-RAN solutions, a link that analysts say could provide a natural route into Pakistan because of Telenor\u2019s existing collaboration with Data Vault.<\/p>\n
In the wider region, Supermicro has already taken a major position in AI infrastructure. In 2025, it signed a $20 billion multi-year agreement with Saudi Arabia\u2019s DataVolt to develop hyperscale AI campuses.<\/p>\n
However, any eventual shipment of Blackwell-class chips to Pakistan would depend on US export authorisations. These approvals are considered separately from Data Vault\u2019s existing permissions for GPUs.<\/p>\n
Data Vault Pakistan is the country\u2019s first AI-ready sovereign data centre and GPU-as-a-Service provider. In December 2025, the company launched Pakistan\u2019s first locally hosted sovereign AI cloud in partnership with Telenor Pakistan. The launch gave local enterprises in-country access to Nvidia enterprise-grade GPUs for the first time.<\/p>\n
The company says it has obtained more than 3,000 GPUs through official Nvidia-approved channels after meeting strict technical, compliance and financing requirements under US export-control rules. This is considered significant because Pakistan remains on the US restricted list for exports of advanced chips.<\/p>\n
Industry estimates suggest Pakistan spends around $700 million to $800 million annually on foreign cloud and computing services. Locally hosted infrastructure could help retain part of that spending inside the country while also keeping sensitive national data within Pakistan\u2019s borders.<\/p>\n
Data Vault is now facing emerging competition in the domestic data centre space. Gul Ahmed Energy Group\u2019s Quantum Global Data Centre last month announced a $230 million Tier III data centre in partnership with Huawei.
