ISLAMABAD: Pakistan staged a strong second-half recovery to beat South Korea 3-1 in the second match of the Pakistan-South Korea Test Series at the Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium in Islamabad on Friday.<\/p>\n
The opening half saw both sides competing evenly and creating chances, but neither team was able to score until late in the half. South Korea went ahead in the 30th minute when Sun Din struck a field goal to give the visitors a 1-0 lead just before the break.<\/p>\n
Pakistan returned with greater purpose after halftime and levelled the match in the 33rd minute through Abdul Rehman, who scored a field goal to bring the hosts back into the contest.<\/p>\n
Captain Abu Bakar Mahmood then turned the match in Pakistan\u2019s favour with two penalty-corner goals. He converted in the 52nd minute to put Pakistan 2-1 ahead and struck again in the last minute to complete a 3-1 victory.<\/p>\n
Abu Bakar Mahmood was declared Player of the Match for his decisive performance and two important goals.<\/p>\n
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi was the chief guest at the match and praised the quality of hockey shown by both teams. During the post-match ceremony, Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) President Mohiuddin Ahmad Wani presented a commemorative shield to the Governor. Speaking on the occasion, Faisal Karim Kundi welcomed the successful return of international hockey activities to Pakistan.<\/p>\n
Director General of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), Yawar Hussain, also attended the match.<\/p>\n
The match was officiated by Fahad Ali Khan and Asad Abbas, with Muhammad Sajid Raza serving as reserve umpire. Haroon Rashid performed duties as video umpire. Adnan Shahzad was the scoring judge, Mehboob Javed the timing judge, and Hamza Tufail the technical official.<\/p>\n
Muhammad Shafiq served as technical delegate, Faiz Muhammad Faizi as umpire manager, Muhammad Waqas Sheikh as media coordinator, Abdul Nasir Akhunzada as PHF camp coordinator, and Najeeb Khattak as chief coordinator and operations official.
