Islamabad, August 3, 2026: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has assured that every possible facilitation will be provided to students from Azad Jammu and Kashmir facing difficulties in the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) registration process.<\/p>\n
The assurance was given during a meeting between Brig Aamer Reza Tippu, Secretary Health, GoAJ&K, and Prof Dr Fasal Bashir, Chairman Joint Admission Committee, with Prof Dr Rizwan Taj, President PMDC, Brig Rehan Naqvi (Retd), Registrar PMDC, and Mr Dr Imdad Ali Khushuk, Director Admission Affairs PMDC.<\/p>\n
The meeting discussed issues related to the registration of AJ&K students for MDCAT. The Secretary Health AJ&K informed PMDC officials that students from the region were facing problems in completing their registration because of the prolonged internet shutdown in AJ&K.<\/p>\n
He requested PMDC to support the affected candidates and ensure that no eligible student is denied the chance to sit the examination.<\/p>\n
Prof Dr Rizwan Taj told the delegation that PMDC had already taken a number of special steps to facilitate AJ&K students. He said the Government of Pakistan remained committed to ensuring that all eligible students from AJ&K are able to appear in the MDCAT.<\/p>\n
The PMDC President said that, keeping in view the exceptional situation, the registration deadline had been extended twice with the normal registration fee. The first extension was from July 8 to July 13, 2026, while the second was from July 13 to July 23, 2026, to provide maximum convenience to students from AJ&K.<\/p>\n
PMDC has allowed an extension in the MDCAT registration deadline with the normal fee and has also accepted registration applications through WhatsApp, email and physical submission.<\/p>\n
Students facing difficulties in registration may directly contact PMDC, which will provide the required assistance to enable them to appear in MDCAT.<\/p>\n
A special MDCAT examination centre has also been established in Islamabad for students from AJ&K to facilitate their participation in the test. PMDC has issued a public notice and designated a focal person to help AJ&K students with registration and examination-related matters.<\/p>\n
The President and Registrar PMDC assured the Secretary Health AJ&K and the Chairman Joint Admission Committee of their complete cooperation.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, it was also agreed in principle to establish a PMDC Sub-Office in AJ&K to improve access to PMDC services for students and healthcare professionals in the region. The proposal will be placed before the PMDC Governing Body for formal approval.<\/p>\n
The Secretary Health AJ&K and the Chairman Joint Admission Committee appreciated the President and Registrar PMDC for their timely measures and continued support for AJ&K students.<\/p>\n
