Floodwaters have destroyed houses, inundated crops, and damaged critical infrastructure, intensifying needs for shelter, food, water, and medical assistance.<\/p>\n<p>In response, Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher has released $5 million from the UN CERF, which is managed by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. The allocation is intended to enable UN agencies and partner organizations to deliver immediate life-saving assistance, including emergency cash transfers to affected families.<\/p>\n<p>The CERF funding will complement support from OCHA\u2019s regional fund and strengthen national response efforts, providing flexible, rapid resources that are designed to reach people quickly.
