UN Women Pakistan, with support from KOICA, convened a district-level Digital Startup Roundtable at Women University Swabi that brought together government, private sector, academia, commerce representatives, tech startups and young women entrepreneurs to explore how women are driving digital transformation and leading innovation for a more inclusive local economy in Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.<\/p>\n
Organized as a platform for cross-sector dialogue, the roundtable aimed to highlight the role of women in the digital economy and to identify practical ways to strengthen the local startup ecosystem. UN Women Pakistan and KOICA framed the meeting around inclusive innovation and capacity building for women-led enterprises.<\/p>\n
Participants included representatives from the provincial information technology board (KPITB), private sector MSME support organizations such as Durshal and SMEDA, academic institutions including Women University Swabi and Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute, the Swabi Chamber of Commerce Women Wing, local tech startup innovators, and young women entrepreneurs. The diverse attendance reflected an effort to bring policy, training, finance and market perspectives together.<\/p>\n
Attendees shared experiences and discussed barriers and opportunities for women-led digital startups. Conversations focused on skills development, mentorship, access to finance and markets, and the role of institutions in creating enabling conditions for female entrepreneurs. Speakers emphasized the importance of local training, networking and public-private collaboration to nurture sustainable ventures.<\/p>\n
The roundtable identified potential areas for collaboration across government, private sector and academia to strengthen support services and create more accessible pathways for women in tech. Participants agreed on the need for continued engagement to translate dialogue into concrete programs and partnerships that can scale women-led innovation in Swabi.<\/p>\n
