Hyderabad hosted a World Bank mission to review and support ongoing efforts in irrigation, water management, and agricultural research across Sindh. Senior World Bank officials met with local project leaders, toured key research and irrigation facilities, and acknowledged successful implementation of sustainable irrigation measures in the region.<\/p>\n
The delegation included Meskerem Brhane, Regional Practice Director for Planet at the World Bank, and Francois Onimus, Task Team Leader for World Bank SWAT and SBIP. They held a forum with local officials to assess project progress and align on next steps.<\/p>\n
During the forum, Pritam Das, Managing Director, outlined the current status and achievements of SBIP. Jamal Mangan, Project Director for SWAT, provided an update on priority activities and milestones, while Liaquat Bhutto, Project Director from the Agriculture Delivery Unit, presented insights into ongoing agricultural initiatives and delivery strategies.<\/p>\n
The mission team visited the Hydrology Lab and the Irrigation Department to observe work aimed at improving water management and irrigation practices. At the Research Institute Tando Jam, they reviewed agricultural research activities focused on enhancing productivity and resilience in the region.<\/p>\n
At Akram Wah, the delegation recognized SIDA\u2019s successful implementation of the SRMP, highlighting it as a notable accomplishment in sustainable irrigation management.
