Pakistan and Tunisia have agreed to deepen parliamentary cooperation after a cordial meeting in Islamabad between Ambassador Misbah Khar, Special Envoy for the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers\u2019 Conference (ISC), and the Tunisian Ambassador to Pakistan. The discussion focused on the objectives of the newly established ISC and extended a formal invitation for Tunisia\u2019s leadership to participate in the conference\u2019s inaugural session in Islamabad.<\/p>\n
During the meeting at the Tunisian Embassy, Ambassador Misbah Khar outlined the vision, aims and objectives of the ISC, describing it as a global forum designed to bring together Speakers of Parliaments and international leaders. She emphasized that the conference aims to promote dialogue and collaboration on issues of peace, development, stability and security through inclusive parliamentary diplomacy and constructive engagement.<\/p>\n
Ambassador Khar highlighted Pakistan\u2019s central role in the initiative and noted that the Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, has been unanimously elected as the first President of the ISC, a milestone reflecting international confidence in Pakistan\u2019s leadership on parliamentary cooperation.<\/p>\n
She extended a formal invitation to Tunisia\u2019s parliamentary leadership to attend the ISC\u2019s first session, which is planned to take place in Islamabad later this year under the theme \u201cPeace, Development, Stability, and Security.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Tunisian Ambassador welcomed the initiative, commended the establishment of the ISC as a timely step to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy, and reaffirmed the longstanding brotherly ties between Pakistan and Tunisia. He assured Pakistan of Tunisia\u2019s full support for Pakistan\u2019s leadership role in the multilateral parliamentary effort.<\/p>\n
Ambassador Khar expressed gratitude for Tunisia\u2019s support and reiterated Pakistan\u2019s commitment to deepening bilateral parliamentary cooperation and coordinating closely to ensure the success of the ISC in promoting global dialogue, peace and stability.
