He said citizens observe this global day to recommit to keeping homes, streets and public spaces clean, and called for immediate action to restore public health standards in Rawalpindi.<\/p>\n<p>During his visits he found overflowing trash piles, clogged drains and neglected public areas that, he warned, threaten the wellbeing of residents. He urged responsible agencies, particularly the Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) and WASA, to perform their duties with transparency and regularity and to ensure daily cleaning operations across the inner city.<\/p>\n<p>Highlighting a Punjab Ombudsman notice, he demanded that historic Liaquat Bagh be cleared of waste without delay and reinstated as a Ladies and Children Park to provide citizens with a clean and pleasant recreational space. He said restoring Liaquat Bagh should be a priority under any Rawalpindi sanitation plan.<\/p>\n<p>Zaheer Ahmed Awan pointed to the accumulation of hundreds of thousands of tons of refuse in city drains, sewage lines and Nala Li as evidence of systemic failure, and said the condition of entry routes from the federal capital \u2014 notably the Faizabad to IJP Road corridor and the approach to Dhok Hasu \u2014 reflects negligence by municipal authorities. He directly questioned the performance of RWMC, WASA, the Commissioner and the Deputy Commissioner in addressing these hazards.<\/p>\n<p>Residents joined the Citizen Action Committee in appealing to local officials to implement sustained cleaning of all inner-city access roads, Shakrial, Dhok Hasu, drains, sewer lines and the full depth of Nala Li.
