Federal Minister Professor Ahsan Iqbal visited the severely flood-hit village of Doodhe on Sunday and personally handed out school bags, books and uniforms to young students to help them resume their education. The visit highlighted a focused effort on immediate flood relief and on keeping children in school despite recent losses.<\/p>\n
The minister praised the courage and determination of flood-affected families and said the nation has once again shown it stands firm in times of crisis. He noted that survey teams have been mobilised to estimate damage to crops, houses and roads so that relief delivery, rehabilitation and infrastructure repairs can be prioritised effectively.<\/p>\n
Expressing relief that large-scale loss of life was averted, Professor Ahsan Iqbal attributed this to the timely efforts of local administration, rescue teams, police and the Pakistan Armed Forces. He emphasised that alongside relief operations, protecting access to education must remain a central priority as families rebuild.<\/p>\n
Stressing that education is the most powerful tool to eradicate poverty, the minister underlined the need for equal opportunities for girls as well as boys. He pointed to Narowal where more than 250 schools have been established, many dedicated to girls, and highlighted that the University of Narowal now has a female majority among its students\u2014an outcome he called the foundation of a social transformation.<\/p>\n
Looking ahead, he said the 21st century rewards knowledge and skills over mere resources, and urged that children be equipped with modern education including computer science and artificial intelligence so they can succeed on the global stage.
