The National Incubation Center Karachi marked its first anniversary with the graduation of 30 startups from Cohort 12 in a ceremony that brought together government leaders, investors and ecosystem stakeholders. Federal Minister for IT & Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja joined Ignite CEO Rafique Ahmed Buriro and Asim Ishaq Khan, Vice President LMKT, to acknowledge the cohort’s achievements and the centre’s growing role in Pakistan’s tech landscape.<\/p>\n
Shaza Fatima Khawaja<\/strong> emphasised the government’s commitment to the Prime Minister’s Digital Nation vision, noting that the graduating founders embody the entrepreneurial talent and resilience of Pakistan’s youth: ‘These young innovators are not only creating jobs but also reshaping industries and showcasing Pakistan’s potential on the global stage.’ Her remarks highlighted NIC Karachi’s role in building a knowledge-based digital economy.<\/p>\n Rafique Ahmed Buriro<\/strong> reflected on Ignite’s distributed incubation strategy and how public-private partnerships amplify support across regions: ‘NIC Karachi underlines how strong public-private partnerships can transform entrepreneurship in Pakistan.’ He reiterated Ignite’s commitment to mentorship, investor access and resources that help startups scale.<\/p>\n Asim Ishaq Khan<\/strong> credited the new consortium leadership and partners YBG and Orbit Startups for strengthening the pipeline of scalable businesses: ‘Together with our partners we are building a robust pipeline of scalable businesses.’ The consortium’s support aims to increase investor readiness and global competitiveness for NIC Karachi alumni.<\/p>\n The 30 graduating startups from Cohort 12 are positioned to expand locally and internationally, with alumni stories illustrating job creation, revenue growth and sector disruption. Since inception, NIC Karachi has incubated more than 375 startups, contributed to over 1 million jobs, generated over PKR 10 billion in revenue and helped founders raise in excess of PKR 12 billion in investment.<\/p>\n NIC Karachi continues to provide free-of-cost incubation, mentorship, investor access, legal and financial advisory, and specialised labs in Fintech, Industrial Automation and Media.
