The move, taken under federal directives, aims to improve registration quality and remove longstanding gaps in the civil registration system.<\/p>\n<p>The new system is part of the National Biometric and Registration Policy Framework approved on 1 January 2025. In its pilot phase, <strong>NADRA<\/strong> has deployed the solution across more than 50 hospitals and primary care centres, including PIMS, CDA and federal government hospitals in Islamabad, Lady Aitchison Hospital in Lahore, Bolan Medical College and other hospitals in Quetta, DHQ facilities, Sheikh Zayed and Arya hospitals, DHQ hospitals in Haripur and Batkhela in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, DHQ Mirpur in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Shaheed Syed Rehman Hospital in Gilgit, and multiple hospitals and basic health units in Hyderabad and Matiari in Sindh.<\/p>\n<p>Under the automated process, birth and death notifications generated at a hospital or health centre are transmitted directly to <strong>NADRA<\/strong>. Parents or the next of kin receive prompts via the mobile app and SMS to complete registration at the relevant union council, while citizens may also register using the NADRA mobile app or by visiting their local union council for final entry into the civil register.<\/p>\n<p>During the pilot phase the system has already recorded over <strong>4,000<\/strong> birth notifications and <strong>407<\/strong> death notifications, demonstrating early uptake and operational readiness. The service is currently active across three districts in Punjab and will be expanded provincewide once preparations are finalised by provincial authorities.<\/p>\n<p><em>NADRA<\/em> is fast-tracking provision of the system to additional districts and both public and private health facilities across other provinces.
