{"id":12716,"date":"2025-10-17T11:05:18","date_gmt":"2025-10-17T11:05:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.peakpoint.pk\/en\/2025\/10\/17\/advancing-interfaith-harmony-uk-partnership\/"},"modified":"2025-10-17T11:05:18","modified_gmt":"2025-10-17T11:05:18","slug":"advancing-interfaith-harmony-uk-partnership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.peakpoint.pk\/en\/2025\/10\/17\/advancing-interfaith-harmony-uk-partnership\/","title":{"rendered":"Advancing Interfaith Harmony with UK Partnership"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Islamabad on 17 October 2025 saw a meeting between <strong>Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf<\/strong> and British High Commissioner <strong>Jane Marriott<\/strong> to discuss measures for promoting interfaith harmony and practical cooperation between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>Sardar Muhammad Yousaf highlighted Pakistan\u2019s pride in its rich traditions and cultural heritage, stressing deep respect for religious diversity. He said Pakistan views ties with the UK with great value and is keen to broaden cooperation, particularly in initiatives that strengthen interfaith harmony and social cohesion.<\/p>\n<p>The minister expressed concern over the reported increase in state-backed persecution of Muslims and other minorities in India and reiterated that Pakistani Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Parsis and followers of other faiths remain an integral part of the country\u2019s social fabric. He underlined Pakistan\u2019s ongoing efforts to expand minority participation across all sectors as part of promoting interfaith harmony at home.<\/p>\n<p>On education and madrassa reform, both sides discussed practical steps. Pakistan currently has more than 18,000 registered madrassas, and Sardar Muhammad Yousaf said it is timely to equip their students with modern technical skills through the Prime Minister Youth Program and related initiatives. High Commissioner Jane Marriott offered UK support to provide technical training, exchange programs and scholarships for madrassa graduates, noting the presence of around two million Muslims and 1.7 million Hindus in the UK as part of a diverse British society.<\/p>\n<p>Both officials agreed that Pakistan and the UK can benefit from sharing experiences to strengthen interfaith harmony, counter extremism and expand people-to-people ties.
