{"id":12719,"date":"2025-10-17T11:07:54","date_gmt":"2025-10-17T11:07:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.peakpoint.pk\/en\/2025\/10\/17\/expanding-pakistan-africa-trade-patdc-2025\/"},"modified":"2025-10-17T11:07:54","modified_gmt":"2025-10-17T11:07:54","slug":"expanding-pakistan-africa-trade-patdc-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.peakpoint.pk\/en\/2025\/10\/17\/expanding-pakistan-africa-trade-patdc-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Expanding Pakistan Africa Trade Through PATDC 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 5th Pakistan-Africa Trade Development Conference and Made in Pakistan Exhibition opened on 16 October 2025 at Millennium Hall in Addis Ababa, bringing together over 100 Pakistani exporters and industry representatives with business and government delegates from Ethiopia and across Africa to strengthen Pakistan Africa Trade.<\/p>\n<p>Jointly organised by the Ministry of Commerce and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan in partnership with the Embassy of Pakistan in Addis Ababa, the three-day event features high-level policy discussions, sectoral presentations and intensive B2B matchmaking. Delegates from more than ten African countries including Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan and Tanzania are attending, and the first day drew hundreds of buyers from multiple sectors across Ethiopia.<\/p>\n<p>The opening ceremony began with a recitation from the Holy Quran and the national anthems of Ethiopia, the African Union and Pakistan. <strong>Ambassador Mian Atif Sharif<\/strong>, Pakistan&#8217;s envoy to Ethiopia, welcomed participants and framed the conference as a key pillar of Pakistan s Look Africa policy, noting Ethiopia s strategic role as a gateway to East Africa and the wider region.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ambassador Jemal Bakir<\/strong>, Ethiopia s Ambassador to Pakistan, highlighted the growing bilateral cooperation and the practical opportunities PATDC creates for businesses. <strong>Ambassador Dewano Kedir<\/strong>, Director General for Asia and Oceania at Ethiopia s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, praised Pakistan s proactive engagement and reaffirmed Ethiopia s readiness to facilitate partnerships that promote South-South cooperation.<\/p>\n<p>Representing Pakistan s trade and industry bodies, <strong>Basit Saleem Shah<\/strong> thanked Ethiopian hosts for their hospitality while <strong>Abdul Karim Memon<\/strong>, Director General of TDAP, outlined Pakistan s recent export performance and identified priority sectors such as textiles, pharmaceuticals, engineering and agri-products as high-potential areas for African markets. <strong>Saquib Fayyaz<\/strong>, Senior Vice President of FPCCI, underlined that business-to-business partnerships will be central to scaling Pakistan Africa Trade.<\/p>\n<p>The Guest of Honor, <strong>Dr. Alemu Sime Feyisa<\/strong>, Minister of Transport and Logistics of Ethiopia, committed to advancing logistics infrastructure and investment policies to make cross-border trade faster and more efficient. <strong>Jam Kamal Khan<\/strong>, Pakistan s Minister of Commerce, reiterated the government s commitment to sustained engagement with African markets and shared growth through commercial ties.<\/p>\n<p>The opening concluded with presentation of mementos and a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a guided tour of the Made in Pakistan exhibition where ministers and dignitaries engaged extensively with exhibitors. Conversations on the show floor focused on practical steps to convert interest into trade contracts and longer term investment partnerships.<\/p>\n<p>Over the next two days participants can expect expanded B2B sessions, targeted sector briefings and further policy dialogue aimed at unlocking new trade corridors.
