The event serves as a platform for direct business-to-business engagement and displays a wide range of Pakistani goods aimed at increasing market access in Ethiopia and beyond.

Minister of Trade and Licensing Deeta Abdulhakim Mulu said the conference and exhibition provide an important forum to tackle trade challenges and to shape a forward-looking agenda that prioritises sustainable development. He emphasised the value of direct participation, trade-to-trade discussions and product exhibitions during a period of global economic uncertainty, underlining the role of Pakistan Ethiopia trade in diversifying partners and markets.

Delegates noted that bilateral trade between the two countries reached about 133 million US dollars in 2024, with Ethiopia’s exports accounting for 74.4 million dollars and imports from Pakistan around 58.6 million dollars. Officials highlighted the 2023 bilateral trade agreement as a key framework to expand and multiply commercial ties and to streamline cooperation on standards, logistics and market access.

Speakers detailed Ethiopia’s ongoing measures to expand its export base by removing non-tariff barriers, simplifying customs procedures and upgrading logistics networks. The government’s Local Economy Improvement Agenda is opening trade and investment channels, encouraging foreign participation in the banking sector and reforming tax, customs and regulatory frameworks to improve business performance. These steps are expected to create more predictable conditions for Pakistan Ethiopia trade and investor engagement.

The minister also reiterated Ethiopia’s commitment to industrialisation focused on export-led growth and trade facilitation, and noted that pursuing full World Trade Organization membership and leveraging the African Continental Free Trade Area will deepen intra-African commerce. Panelists expressed confidence that linking Pakistani labour, technical knowledge and entrepreneurship with Africa’s resources, markets and young workforce can create mutual prosperity and sustainable business partnerships.

Transport and Logistics Minister Dr. Alemu Sime attended the opening alongside officials from the Ethiopian government and Pakistani delegations, reinforcing both capitals’ intent to translate discussions into concrete trade and investment outcomes during and after the conference.

Pakistan Ethiopia trade grows as the 5th Pakistan-Africa Trade Development Conference opens in Addis Ababa to boost exports, investment and bilateral cooperation.

[94

post-12847","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-pakistan
["GET
