Organised by the PMAS-AAUR Center for Precision Agriculture (C4PA), the conference set out to accelerate adoption of Precision Agriculture across Pakistan to raise farm profitability and reduce environmental impacts.

More than 200 participants attended in person, with international delegates from the United States, Canada and China joining both physically and via Zoom. The mix of academic researchers, students and private and public sector representatives created opportunities for practical collaboration and knowledge exchange around Precision Agriculture tools and climate-smart technologies.

Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan, Chairman of the Punjab Higher Education Commission, urged an integrated national strategy to popularise digital and precision farming in response to climate change, noting that conferences like this allow faculty and students to benefit from shared experience and technical sessions. His remarks highlighted the urgency of adopting data-driven approaches to manage scarce resources more efficiently.

Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman, Vice Chancellor of PMAS-AAUR, emphasised Pakistan’s strong potential in Precision Agriculture to close yield gaps and strengthen food security. He underlined the need for climate-smart technologies to mitigate adverse effects of shifting weather patterns and encouraged stakeholders to plan for long-term agricultural resilience.

While visiting the agricultural exhibition, the Vice Chancellor invited researchers, students and especially farmers to engage with modern equipment and machinery on display, stressing that evolving from traditional methods is essential for the future of farming in Pakistan. The exhibition showcased practical Precision Agriculture applications designed for local conditions.

Keynote addresses were delivered by Dr. Aitazaz A. Farooq from the University of Prince Edward Island, Dr. Haimanote K. Bayabil from the University of Florida and Dr. Craig Maceachern from Dalhousie University. The speakers argued that promoting modern agricultural technology and digital agriculture can help Pakistan achieve self-sufficiency in production and open new export opportunities.

The conference programme also featured a lively Food Fest 2025 where over 80 students from the university’s Institute of Food and Nutritional Sciences ran food stalls to promote balanced diets and local culinary skills. Complementary attractions included an IT exhibition, a bird show, an art and craft display and a poster competition, all designed to bridge research, technology and community engagement around Precision Agriculture themes.

As the event concluded, shields and souvenirs were presented to guests, presenters and participants in recognition of their contributions to advancing Precision Agriculture. The conference closed with a clear message that digital innovations and collaborative research will be central to Pakistan’s agricultural progress in the years ahead.

See how PMAS-AAUR advances Precision Agriculture with global experts, digital innovations and hands-on exhibitions to boost Pakistan’s farm productivity.

[94

post-12870","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-pakistan
["GET
