A three-day International Precision Agriculture Conference (IPAC) 2025 concluded at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi on October 21, 2025, bringing digital farming to the forefront under the theme Transforming Agriculture through Digital Innovations. Organized by the PMAS-AAUR Center for Precision Agriculture (C4PA), the event showcased practical Digital Farming tools aimed at improving productivity and sustainability across Pakistan.<\/p>\n
Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, the chief guest for the concluding session, emphasized the urgency of food security and urged stakeholders to increase agricultural exports. He noted that participants benefited from international expertise and stressed that embracing digitization and modern goals in agriculture is vital as the world moves toward technological integration.<\/p>\n
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman said the era of automation, artificial intelligence and precision farming has already begun and called for swift adoption. He highlighted that Digital Farming techniques can reduce input costs, optimise fertiliser use, conserve water and boost crop yields while minimising environmental impact.<\/p>\n
IPAC 2025 operated in a hybrid format with several international speakers attending in person and others joining online. Presentations and papers were delivered across eight technical sessions, while an Agricultural Expo, IT exhibition, food fest, bird show, art and craft displays, and poster and oral presentations provided platforms for dialogue and collaboration between researchers, industry and farmers.<\/p>\n
Organisers led by Dr. Muhammad Naveed Tahir and Dr. Shoaib Rashid Saleem were acknowledged for staging the conference, and shields and souvenirs were presented to guests, presenters and participants in recognition of their contributions. The event aimed to catalyse partnerships and joint initiatives to expand the reach of Digital Farming solutions in Pakistan.<\/p>\n
The third day featured a Kissan Mela at the University Research Farm Koont in Tehsil Gujar Khan, giving farmers an opportunity to see new technologies firsthand and engage with experts on site.
