The Department of Chemistry at Government College University Faisalabad hosted the opening ceremony of the 35th National and 23rd International Conference on Chemistry under the theme “The Role of Chemistry for Sustainable Development.” The event at GCU Faisalabad set the tone for discussions on how chemistry can drive sustainable solutions in a rapidly evolving technological landscape, with CHEMCON 2025 bringing together national and international scholars.<\/p>\n
Dr. Akim Socohou Moutala, Senior Program Manager at OIC-COMSTECH, represented His Excellency Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary during the ceremony and conveyed his congratulations and best wishes to the organizers. In his address he emphasized chemistry\u2019s central role alongside other applied sciences in achieving sustainable development and highlighted OIC-COMSTECH\u2019s ongoing efforts across its 57 member states and five observer states, including initiatives that strengthen science diplomacy in Pakistan.<\/p>\n
As keynote speaker, Dr. Akim presented findings from his postdoctoral research conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, University of Karachi. His talk, titled Quantitative Assessment of Biofilm Formation of Staphylococcus spp. Strains Isolated in Hospitals in Benin (West Africa)<\/em>, showcased how laboratory research on biofilm formation can inform infection control and public health strategies relevant to both regional and international contexts.<\/p>\n The opening of CHEMCON 2025 at GCUF underlined Pakistan\u2019s role as a hub for scientific exchange and collaboration.
