The session, held at a local hotel on Wednesday, 22nd October 2025, focused on how accessible government information can reduce the spread of false narratives.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Jehan warned that in the current digital environment thousands of social media outlets regularly publish unverified material, which deepens societal polarization. He said, <em>\u201cWe are living in a digital world where thousands of social media outlets are producing unverified content, which is creating polarization in society,\u201d<\/em> and added that RTI law enables journalists to obtain authentic information directly from government institutions for reliable reporting.<\/p>\n<p>The KP Information Commission official stressed that proactive disclosure by public bodies, as required under the RTI law, is essential to shrink the space available to misinformation. When departments routinely publish verified data, citizens and media can cross-check claims and reduce reliance on hearsay.<\/p>\n<p>The event, organised by FAFEN and TDEA, brought together journalists, lawyers and civil society members who discussed practical steps to improve transparency and information access.
