The Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives hosted the 13th cohort session of the Green Zameen Fellowship Program 2024\u201326 on October 28, 2025 at Serena Hotel Quetta, bringing fellows, academics and policy practitioners together to focus on Pakistan’s energy transition.<\/p>\n
Dr. Syed Ali Abbas Kazmi<\/strong> of USPCAS-E, NUST examined demand-side management, outlining the challenges and opportunities around energy inefficiencies in agriculture and common issues with solar installations. He highlighted the role of smart grids and targeted demand measures in improving system efficiency and reducing losses across rural and urban supply chains.<\/p>\n Dr. Usama Perwez<\/strong> from NUST presented practical perspectives on green architecture and policy implementation for a sustainable built environment, stressing the importance of energy-efficient design as cities expand and housing demand rises in Pakistan’s urban centres.<\/p>\n The session focused on equipping emerging leaders with knowledge to drive a just energy transition through informed policy actions and innovative technical solutions.
