Dr Ramzan Ansar, Director of the Barani Agricultural Research Institute, said the activity is part of a wider initiative launched by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to expand olive production across the Potohar region. He noted that under the programme students from various schools will plant around 2,000 olive saplings and that BARI is facilitating the effort to build interest and capacity in olive cultivation among young people.

Dr Ansar added that the Potohar region’s soil and climate are well suited to olive farming and welcomed the growing involvement of rural women in the crop, saying this trend could improve both profitability and sustainability of local olive production. The focus on olive saplings in schools is intended to combine environmental education with practical steps toward rural economic development.

Schools in Chakwal interested in joining the campaign can coordinate with CEFORT, which will provide saplings free of cost along with technical assistance for plantation and care. The event in Chakwal was attended by teachers, students and CEFORT representatives, and participants described tree planting as an important measure against climate change and pledged to expand the initiative to other educational institutions across the district.

100 students plant 100 olive saplings in one minute at Akhuwat College Chakwal to support the Potohar Transformation Project and boost local olive farming

[94

post-13544","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-pakistan
["GET
