Rescue1122 in Rawalpindi responded to a sharp rise in road incidents during October, receiving reports of 1,517 road traffic accidents across the district that affected a total of 1,681 people. The emergency teams maintained their average response time and provided timely medical assistance and on-scene rescue operations to the injured.<\/p>\n
Of those involved in the Rawalpindi accidents, 15 people lost their lives, 742 sustained serious injuries and 925 suffered minor injuries. Victims included 1,438 men and 243 women, with a majority of casualties aged between 11 and 40 years, reflecting a concerning impact on young and working-age residents.<\/p>\n
Rescue crews noted that most collisions involved cars and motorcycles. Primary causes reported by field teams were speeding, negligence while driving, incorrect turning, tyre bursts and other driver-related factors. The pattern underlines persistent road safety challenges in urban and peri-urban areas of the district.<\/p>\n
Rescue1122 officials reiterated the need for strict adherence to traffic laws and safer driving practices to reduce the toll from road traffic accidents. The service continues outreach and coordination with local authorities to target high-risk locations and promote public awareness, while keeping emergency readiness to respond promptly to new incidents.<\/p>\n
