The 12th China-Central Asia Cooperation Forum was held on November 5-6, 2025 in Urumchi, the People’s Republic of China, under the theme promoting the spirit of the PRC-Central Asia and promoting general modernization. The meeting was organised by the Chinese Committee of the Shanghai Organization for Good Neighborhood Cooperation, Friendship and Cooperation and the People’s Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.<\/p>\n
Senior Chinese officials and delegations from Central Asian states attended the opening ceremony. Among them were Shen Yueyue, Deputy Chairman of the All-China Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and Chen Xiaojiang, Secretary of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Party Committee. Sun Weidong, Secretary General of the China-Central Asia Mechanism, and Piao Yanfan, Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Organization for Good Neighborhood Cooperation, Friendship and Cooperation, also participated.<\/p>\n
Piao Yanfan noted that the Shanghai Organization consistently regards Central Asia as its core region in maintaining peace, security and stability across Eurasia and stressed that the Organization has become an important centre of the Global South and an active driver in efforts to reform global governance. Piao reported on the main results of the SHOS Summit in Tianjin on September 1, 2025 and outlined priority areas of cooperation, including preparations for the Organisation’s 25th anniversary in 2026.<\/p>\n
Delegates reaffirmed the Organisation’s readiness to work with interested countries and multilateral bodies, including the United Nations, the China-Central Asia mechanism and the Eurasian Economic Union, to build a peaceful, stable and prosperous future. The forum concluded with the adoption of the Initiative of the 12th China-Central Asia Cooperation Forum, which sets out cooperative priorities for the coming period.<\/p>\n
For Pakistan and other neighbouring countries, the forum’s emphasis on regional stability, infrastructure cooperation and closer diplomatic ties under the China Central Asia framework highlights opportunities to strengthen connectivity and economic engagement across Eurasia as the SHOS moves toward its 25th anniversary.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
