The exercise brought together government health officials, medical staff and community members to highlight the growing diabetes challenge in Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p>The walk included the Special Secretary, the Additional Secretary and the Director General of Health alongside the District Health Officer of Islamabad, Lady Health Workers, paramedics, hospital consultants and a group of enthusiastic students from Bahria University. Participants carried banners and placards sharing messages about prevention, early detection and ongoing care.<\/p>\n<p>Organisers described the walk as the first of several activities planned across the week to promote diabetes prevention and improved care. The event emphasised community engagement and the local reach of health campaigns, with frontline workers and volunteers playing a visible role in outreach and education.<\/p>\n<p>The Special Secretary stressed the urgent need for increased diabetes awareness, urging regular monitoring, early screening and healthier lifestyles to curb rising rates. The Additional Secretary outlined the Ministry of Health\u2019s comprehensive strategy to prevent diabetes and strengthen care, noting that diabetes Awareness is a societal issue requiring coordinated action across government, health services and communities.<\/p>\n<p>The Director General of Health highlighted ongoing government efforts combining preventive initiatives with curative services and stressed the importance of health professionals and community health workers in extending screening and support to at-risk groups. The contribution of Lady Health Workers and local paramedics was singled out as critical to reaching communities beyond major hospitals.<\/p>\n<p>The walk concluded with mementos presented to participants in recognition of their contribution to diabetes awareness.
