The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives <strong>Ahsan Iqbal<\/strong>, Federal Minister for Science and Technology <strong>Khalid Hussain Magsi<\/strong>, along with secretaries and senior officials from the relevant ministries, divisions and regulatory bodies. The committee considered summaries presented by the Finance Division, Maritime Affairs Division, Petroleum Division and the Industries and Production Division.<\/p>\n<p>The committee approved the appointment of an independent director to the board of Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited, and cleared nominations for independent directors to the board of Port Qasim Authority, Karachi. It also approved a nomination to fill a casual vacancy on the board of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited. These moves reflect an emphasis on bringing private sector experience onto the governing bodies of major state entities.<\/p>\n<p>From the Industries and Production Division the committee approved the constitution of the board of directors for Sindh Engineering (Pvt.) Limited, the appointment of a private sector member from Punjab to the board of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, and the constitution of the board of the State Engineering Corporation. The decisions aim to strengthen corporate oversight and align board composition with current operational and development needs.<\/p>\n<p>The chair praised the diligence in selecting qualified private sector candidates to serve as independent directors, stressing that appointments must reflect necessary experience, expertise, knowledge and professional acumen. The committee underscored the role of independent directors in improving governance standards across state owned enterprises and called for continued rigor in candidate selection.<\/p>\n<p>The CCoSOEs also directed the Finance Division and the Privatization Division to undertake a comprehensive review and stock-taking of outstanding litigation affecting SOEs earmarked for privatization.
