The session highlighted how access to information is foundational to enforcing other human rights across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.<\/p>\n<p>Syed Saadat Jehan, Deputy Director Communication at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission, told participants that the province must build coordinated systems to ensure human rights are fully implemented. Speaking at the &#8216;Provincial Consultation for National Action Plan on Human Rights&#8217; organised by the Directorate General of Law &#038; Human Rights Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in collaboration with UNDP, he stressed the need for stronger public awareness of laws that safeguard citizen rights.<\/p>\n<p>Representatives from the Ministry of Human Rights, Government of Pakistan, the Social Welfare Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Labour Department, police, academia, the Health Department, KPCSW and KPRTPSC attended, alongside ombudsmen, civil society members and students. The diversity of attendees underscored the cross\u2011sectoral nature of implementing the Right to Information and other human rights protections.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Jehan advocated for a formal referral mechanism between institutions to improve redress of citizen complaints and to ensure cases are resolved efficiently.
