Pakistan Senate Chairman Yusuf Raza Gilani arrived in Kuala Lumpur on 6 December 2025 for a state visit focused on strengthening bilateral ties and exploring new avenues of cooperation following his earlier engagement at the interparliamentary speakers conference in March 2025.<\/p>\n
During the Gilani Malaysia visit, a dinner hosted by the local business community provided an opportunity for the chairman to reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to deepening relations with Malaysia. He emphasized that the partnership rests on shared values, cultural bonds, and decades of political, economic and social cooperation.<\/p>\n
Chairman Gilani noted that bilateral trade currently stands at about $1.5 billion annually but stressed that significant scope exists to raise that figure through targeted investment and collaboration. He highlighted promising sectors for Malaysian investors, including tourism, infrastructure and construction, mining, agribusiness, the halal industry and food processing, and he acknowledged Malaysia’s pivotal role in commodities such as palm oil.<\/p>\n
To facilitate investment, Gilani pointed to Pakistan’s Special Investment Facilitation Council as a one-window mechanism that provides regulatory guidance, streamlined access and coordinated support at both federal and provincial levels. He encouraged Malaysian business leaders to consider Pakistan as an attractive destination for long-term investment, citing the country’s young workforce and investor-friendly initiatives.<\/p>\n
