The Long Beach Tennis Center USA was inaugurated at the Central Park Sports Complex in Lahore, marking a major step for tennis development in Pakistan. The opening, organised by Urban Developers Group, was attended by Chairman Mian Tahir Javed, Punjab Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Mudassar Riaz Malik, Long Beach Tennis owner Mr. Sid Siddiqui and special guests from the United States including Mr. Amir Rausal and Mr. Safder Qureshi. Renowned international cricket umpire Aleem Dar and several American coaches were also present to lend support to the new venture.<\/p>\n
The facility offers an international-standard sports environment with tennis courts at the centre, alongside padel, cricket, football and badminton amenities. The academy will operate under the guidance of foreign-qualified coaches from the United States who will introduce modern training techniques, structured fitness programs and professional mentorship tailored for young Pakistani players.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Sid Siddiqui, chairman and owner of Long Beach Tennis USA, explained that years of coaching in the United States inspired him to bring the same standards to his homeland. He said, “I have been coaching tennis in the USA for a long time and have had the honour of producing a good number of players there. Now, the love of my homeland has compelled me to serve the game of tennis here too.” He added that the academy aims to train raw talent and shape them into competitive athletes.<\/p>\n
The academy announced that open trials will be held soon to identify promising athletes from across Punjab and beyond, with talent identification and grassroots development a central focus. Mr. Siddiqui also revealed plans to host an international tennis tournament in Lahore within a year, an initiative intended to give local players crucial exposure to higher-level competition.<\/p>\n
Punjab Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Mudassar Riaz Malik underlined the importance of structured support, saying, “Pakistan does not lack talent. What we need is proper identification and grooming at the grassroots level.” He urged schools and colleges to play a more active role in finding and nurturing sporting talent and commended the organisers for a project he described as a landmark for promoting tennis culture in the region.<\/p>\n
