The visit marks President Prabowo’s first trip to Pakistan and coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two Muslim-majority nations.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif personally welcomed the Indonesian leader at Nur Khan Airbase, where federal cabinet members and senior officials were also present. A 21-gun salute was fired as ceremonial honours, and children dressed in traditional attire presented flowers and held national flags to greet the visiting delegation.

The Prabowo visit will include delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and a meeting with President Zardari. Officials said discussions are expected to cover trade and investment, defence cooperation, health, information technology, climate change, education and cultural exchanges, with an eye to strengthening both regional and global partnership.

Pakistan and Indonesia share longstanding friendly ties grounded in common values and mutual interests, and Islamabad’s hosts described the state visit as an important opportunity to expand practical cooperation. The last Indonesian presidential visit to Pakistan was in 2018 when President Joko Widodo travelled to Islamabad.

Government sources noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz extended the invitation to President Prabowo as part of a wider push to boost economic and strategic links. The agenda for the two-day visit is designed to produce concrete steps on trade, defence and people-to-people exchanges that both capitals hope will sustain momentum in the bilateral relationship.

Prabowo visit sees President Zardari and PM Shehbaz welcome Indonesia’s leader in Islamabad to advance trade, defence and cultural cooperation.

[94

post-15126","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-pakistan
["GET
