Mercy Corps Pakistan held a high-level meeting with the Honorable Minister Mustafa Kamal and senior officials from the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination, including the Secretary, Special Secretary and Director Program. The Mercy Corps delegation led briefings on ongoing tuberculosis work and the organisation’s role in accelerating national efforts to end TB.<\/p>\n
The Mercy Corps team included Moeen Haider Rizvi<\/strong>, Country Director; Dr. Adeel Tahir<\/strong>, Director TB Program; Abdullah Latif<\/strong>, Senior Project Manager; and Zulfiqar Ali<\/strong>, Government Liaison Advisor. They outlined current interventions and how the upcoming ICE TB Project will contribute to early case finding and stronger system responses.<\/p>\n A central theme of the discussion was the ICE TB Project, designed to assess the effectiveness and cost-efficiency of innovative diagnostic tools to improve early identification of TB patients. Mercy Corps emphasised that ICE TB will generate evidence on diagnostics and implementation approaches to reduce diagnostic delays and support programme scale-up within Pakistan’s health system.<\/p>\n The Honorable Minister expressed interest in collaboration with Mercy Corps to strengthen health system capacity and welcomed joint planning for ICE TB activities.
