Last week, IOM Pakistan, with support from the Government of Japan and in collaboration with the FIA, conducted training sessions in Islamabad on victim identification, screening and referral for human trafficking and migrant smuggling cases.<\/p>\n
The sessions brought together FIA personnel, Islamabad Police, civil society organisations and academic practitioners to enhance practical skills for frontline responders. Trainers emphasised trauma-informed approaches to reduce revictimisation and improve outcomes for people identified as victims, reinforcing the central role of migrant protection in every step of the response.<\/p>\n
Participants practised screening and referral protocols designed to identify victims and ensure timely links to protection, medical care and legal assistance. Strengthening coordination among law enforcement, service providers and community actors was highlighted as essential to effective migrant protection at points of contact across the country.<\/p>\n
