This is to draw the attention of the concerned authorities and the public to a critical issue arising from the notification issued by the Cabinet Division on 21 January 2024, whereby a new Cabinet Committee has been constituted.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the notification, the Committee comprises various senior ex officio members and has been given the responsibility of reviewing and looking over all medical, dental, and alternative medicine educational institutions before granting recognition. Undoubtedly, this is a commendable step, and if implemented strictly in accordance with law and rules, it will be highly beneficial, particularly for newly proposed institutions, and will help safeguard the future of students.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, a serious question remains unaddressed. While the Committee is expected to play an effective role in scrutinizing new institutions, there appears to be no clear mandate regarding already existing institutions, many of which are in poor condition and do not meet prescribed standards.<\/span><\/p>\n

If such substandard and deteriorated institutions continue to function without proper review, their status will remain unchanged. This situation is neither desirable nor in the larger public interest. Ignoring these institutions defeats the very purpose of quality assurance and regulatory oversight in medical and alternative medicine education.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is therefore earnestly suggested that the scope of the Committee\u2019s work should not be confined only to new institutions. Rather, existing institutions, especially those failing to meet minimum standards, should also be brought under systematic review, so that uniformity, transparency, and quality education can be ensured.<\/span><\/p>\n
