The Embassy of the Republic of T\u00fcrkiye, in partnership with the National Book Foundation and the Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Center, hosted the prize distribution for the National Essay Writing Competition 2025 in Islamabad, engaging university students from across Pakistan to explore Pakistan Turkey relations through writing.<\/p>\n
The event was attended by Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training Wajiha Qamar, Ambassador of the Republic of T\u00fcrkiye Dr. Irfan Neziroglu, National Book Foundation Managing Director Dr. Kamran Jahangir, senior officials, academic and cultural representatives, teachers, parents and students, underscoring the high-level support for people-to-people engagement.<\/p>\n
Ambassador Dr. Irfan Neziroglu said the competition was organised to celebrate the centuries-old fraternal bond and to remember the sacrifice of two Turkish engineers, Cenk Yak\u0131n and Ufuk Arslan, who lost their lives during a relief mission in Balakot after the 2005 earthquake. He recalled the agreement reached during President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan\u2019s visit to Islamabad to establish a Shura of Fraternity and described the contest as a practical example of that initiative strengthening Pakistan Turkey relations.<\/p>\n
The Ambassador paid tribute to shared heroes and historical links between the two countries, mentioning Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the Ali Brothers and Abdurrahman Peshawari, and stressed the importance of passing this legacy to new generations through education and cultural exchange. He also thanked Anatolia Travel Services for visa facilitation and acknowledged Halil Toker, Country Director of the Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Center, for his role in deepening bilateral cultural ties.<\/p>\n
Minister Wajiha Qamar welcomed the guests and praised the initiative, noting that Pakistan Turkey relations rest on common history, faith and values and serve as a strong example of brotherhood. She highlighted the role of youth and writing in shaping international narratives, urged students to see themselves as future diplomats and scholars, and praised Turkish scholarship and academic exchange opportunities that broaden horizons and reinforce lifelong bonds.<\/p>\n
First Prize was awarded to Maryam Batool of Akhuwat College for Women Chakwal, Second Prize went to Izza Naeem of the University of Management and Technology Lahore, and Third Prize was won by Muhammad Aariz Zafar of the Pakistan Institute of Management Sciences Peshawar.<\/p>\n
