The federal government and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry have signed a memorandum of understanding under the Aaran Pakistan programme to coordinate efforts toward the government’s economic targets.<\/p>\n
Ahsan Iqbal<\/strong>, Federal Minister for Planning and Development, and Atif Ikram Sheikh<\/strong>, President of FPCCI, signed the MoU at a joint event attended by Islamabad Chamber President Sardar Tahir<\/strong>, FPCCI Vice President Taro Jadun<\/strong>, Coordination Chairman Malik Suhail Hussain<\/strong> and other industry representatives.<\/p>\n The agreement commits government and industry to work together to realise the vision of transforming Pakistan into a $3 trillion economy by 2047. Under the Aaran Pakistan framework, public-private cooperation will be strengthened to promote export-led growth and accelerate industrial recovery.<\/p>\n Atif Ikram Sheikh<\/strong> said the Aaran Pakistan programme reflects a firm commitment to sustainable development, stronger exports and economic recovery. He described the programme as a roadmap for the country\u2019s economic trajectory and credited the business community for helping avert a default scenario, while urging continued measures to revive industry.<\/p>\n During the event Atif Ikram Sheikh<\/strong> called for concrete steps to support industry, including lower electricity costs, targeted tax reductions and a reduced policy rate to stimulate investment. He also praised the current leadership for international recognition and said the next phase must shift from stabilisation to broad-based growth.<\/p>\n Ahsan Iqbal<\/strong> reiterated that the government pulled the economy back from the brink of internal default and steered it toward stability. He warned that a few more weeks would have led to external default, and said global institutions now acknowledge Pakistan\u2019s economic recovery.<\/p>\n The minister emphasised that escaping IMF constraints requires a decisive increase in exports and outlined plans to develop district-level export development strategies across the country.
