The Pakistan Dairy Association has praised the Punjab Food Authority for accelerating efforts to ensure safe, nutritious and hygienic milk for families across the province through the Safe Milk campaign. PDA CEO Dr. Shehzad Amin commended Director Muhammad Asim Javaid and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for visible leadership and strong resolve in advancing milk safety, dairy formalization and wider public health reforms.<\/p>\n
Under the Safe Milk operations, PFA teams carried out province-wide checks that included testing more than 70,000 litres<\/strong> of milk entering Lahore, resulting in the disposal of 8,000 litres<\/strong> found adulterated. Targeted inspections in Muzaffargarh led to removal of over 2,000 litres<\/strong> of substandard milk, while checkpoint operations in Rawalpindi eliminated 3,500 litres<\/strong> of unsafe milk. A large-scale campaign in Lahore inspected 60 vehicles<\/strong> and resulted in the destruction of 35,000 litres<\/strong> of adulterated milk.<\/p>\n Dr. Amin emphasised that the Safe Milk drive is central to protecting public health and reducing childhood malnutrition, noting that providing safe milk to households and schools strengthens both physical growth and learning outcomes. The PDA also welcomed the Government of Punjab\u2019s decision to expand the Chief Minister School Nutrition Program to 11 districts<\/strong>, calling the move a landmark step in tackling child malnutrition across the province.<\/p>\n Highlighting the broader goal of sector reform, the PDA underlined that formalization of the dairy industry is essential to guarantee consistent milk quality and food safety. “Formalization is not a choice, it is a necessity,” Dr. Amin said, reaffirming the Association\u2019s commitment to collaborate with PFA and provincial authorities to scale enforcement, improve supply chain standards and make safe milk widely available and affordable.<\/p>\n The coordinated enforcement and outreach under the Safe Milk campaign reflect a sustained push to reduce malnutrition, strengthen human capital and support long-term socio-economic progress in Punjab and beyond.
