The event, hosted at Lahore Gymkhana Club, celebrates sustained commitment to developing talent, raising competitive standards, and honouring one of the country&#8217;s most influential golfers.<\/p>\n<p>A formal announcement at Gymkhana Golf Club brought together key organisers and supporters including Mian Misbah Ur Rehman, Chairman of Lahore Gymkhana Club, Mr Wajid Aziz Convener Gymkhana Golf Club, Mr Sarmad Nadeem Committee Member and ex-Convener Golf, Dr Asma Afzal Shami Chairperson Organising Committee, Mamoona Azam Tournament Coordinator, and Munazza Shaheen Tournament Director and Chief Referee. The gathering underscored Gymkhana&#8217;s ongoing role in nurturing the championship.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Asma Afzal Shami paid a moving tribute to Ghazala Ansari, recalling her six national titles and long period of dominance that inspired generations of women golfers. She said the championship is both a dedication and a continuation of Ghazala Ansari&#8217;s mission to give women the confidence to claim their place on the course, framing history as a means to nurture future talent.<\/p>\n<p>Tournament organisers emphasised that the Ghazala Ansari Open is managed entirely by women, from planning and sponsorship to on-course officiating. Mamoona Azam thanked Gymkhana staff for their support and highlighted the professional standards that have made the event a model tournament. Munazza Shaheen&#8217;s role as Tournament Director and Chief Referee is a milestone, reflecting growing female leadership in officiating.<\/p>\n<p>The championship features seven competitive categories to ensure broad participation, including Professionals and a WAGR Open category, Category B for handicaps 13\u201324, Category C for handicaps 25\u201336, a senior ladies division, and two junior brackets for ages 11\u201314 and under 10. For the second consecutive year the event is being held as an open championship, welcoming professionals alongside amateurs to raise the competitive bar.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s entry list includes 45 registered players, among them seven professionals and nine WAGR participants, a sign of the tournament&#8217;s rising prestige.
