Islamabad, February 26, 2026 \u2014 The Higher Education Commission has launched a revamped Faculty Exchange Programme to enable Pakistani faculty to gain exposure to international teaching, research, curriculum development and academic governance while welcoming foreign academics to Pakistan for short-term visits of two to sixteen weeks.<\/p>\n
The programme allows foreign faculty from technologically advanced countries to teach at undergraduate, Master\u2019s and PhD levels, contribute to curriculum enhancement and take part in conferences, trainings and collaborative research. Pakistani faculty and students are expected to benefit directly from classroom engagement and joint projects facilitated by the Faculty Exchange.<\/p>\n
Ms. Wajiha Qamar<\/strong>, Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training, attended the launch and praised HEC\u2019s commitment to academic excellence. She said the initiative will provide global exposure for local faculty, help redress misconceptions about Pakistan and build collaborative networks that bring international best practices in teaching and research into Pakistani universities. She also highlighted the need for financial independence and sustainability of universities and assured continued government support for higher education.<\/p>\n Dr. Zia ul Haq<\/strong>, Executive Director of HEC, described the Faculty Exchange as a vehicle for sharing ideas, skills and techniques between local and international academics, stressing the importance of partnerships with European institutions and the role of government funding in advancing impactful research, technological readiness and digitization.<\/p>\n Engr. Muhammad Raza Chohan<\/strong>, Member HEC, said the programme was revamped to deliver clearer eligibility criteria, defined timelines and a stronger monitoring mechanism. The revised policy embeds impact analysis and aims to strengthen institutional capacity, enrich faculty skills and improve measurement of academic and research outcomes while ensuring equal opportunities for participants.<\/p>\n The launch was attended by the Ambassador of Germany, Ms. Ina Lepel, as well as vice chancellors, deans and numerous faculty members.
