Pakistan Women produced a spirited display at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan but were edged 1-0 by Mauritania in a tight FIFA Series encounter.<\/p>\n

Fresh from a record 8-0 win over Turks and Caicos, Adeel Rizki’s side created several openings early on. Nadia Khan, who had become Pakistan’s all-time top scorer in the previous match, tested the Mauritanian goalkeeper with a shot in the 13th minute after the ball fell to her in the box.\"\"<\/p>\n

Mauritania opened the scoring in the 20th minute when Ramata Gengui volleyed a left-sided cross into the bottom corner from outside the penalty area. Pakistan nearly responded in the 23rd after a defensive mix-up, but Mariam Mahmood’s close-range effort was saved by the goalkeeper.<\/p>\n

Late in the first half Kayla Siddiqi swung a free kick wide, and at half time Pakistan made two changes with Karissa Jivraj and Anmol Hira replacing Rameen Salman and Sanah Mehdi. The substitutions paid dividends as Pakistan Women forced a series of chances after the restart.<\/p>\n

Aqsa Mushtaq tested Mauritania keeper Aissata Fall with a powerful shot from outside the box that was tipped over, while Zeeyana Jivraj produced a fine stop to deny Tacko Diabira at the other end. Pakistan continued to press, with Mariam missing a chance in the 82nd minute and Isra Khan seeing a first-time volley hit the side netting shortly after.<\/p>\n

Kayla then supplied a superb through ball but Mariam could not convert, and despite sustained pressure in eight minutes of added time\u2014Aqsa even testing the goalkeeper from a late free kick\u2014the equaliser proved elusive.
