The Food Department has prepared a detailed wheat policy focused on delivering the greatest possible financial benefit to farmers. As part of supply management, authorities tapped into three-year-old wheat stocks to ease pressure on fresh procurement and support market stability. The province procured only 100,000 tons<\/strong> from the federal agency PASSCO and maintained a strict no-import position to shield local growers from price volatility.<\/p>\n Officials stressed strict action against hoarding and introduced transparent stock monitoring to restore market confidence and increase reliance on domestic production. These steps are positioned to ensure predictable procurement and fair returns for farmers throughout the season.<\/p>\n Relief for affected growers has been prioritised under the same strategy. During one of Punjab\u2019s worst flood events, eligible farmers received Rs. 20,000 per acre<\/strong>, forming a combined relief outlay of Rs. 20 billion<\/strong>. In response to last year\u2019s wheat price fluctuations, the government also rolled out a Rs. 15 billion<\/strong> package that provided Rs. 5,000 per acre<\/strong> to support household incomes and input costs.<\/p>\n To modernise cultivation and lower long-term production costs, the administration announced distribution of 1,000 tractors<\/strong>, an investment estimated at around Rs. 12 to 13 billion<\/strong>.
