He argued that durable peace cannot be achieved through force but requires dialogue, mutual respect and inclusive diplomacy, stressing that instruments within the UN Charter remain vital yet underused.<\/p>\n<p>The Speaker reiterated Pakistan\u2019s belief in <strong>parliamentary diplomacy<\/strong> as essential for building trust and fostering cooperation among nations. He underscored adherence to UN principles including sovereign equality, territorial integrity, non-interference and peaceful settlement of disputes as cornerstones for global stability and conflict resolution.<\/p>\n<p>On regional tensions, the Speaker described the denial of the right to self-determination of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir as a persistent cause of instability in South Asia. He called for reversal of unilateral measures taken since 5 August 2019 and urged that the final status of Jammu and Kashmir be resolved in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing transboundary resources, the Speaker criticized India\u2019s decision to hold the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance and warned that the weaponization of water represents a serious threat to regional security. He described that move as irresponsible and contrary to established inter-state norms, while affirming that Pakistan reserves all rights to safeguard its due share of water under the Treaty.<\/p>\n<p>Turning to Palestine, the Speaker said the Palestinian population continues to face occupation, dispossession and systemic violence. He noted that over 71,000 Palestinians, largely women and children, have been killed in recent years, and he reiterated Pakistan\u2019s position that a time-bound political process based on UN resolutions must lead to an independent Palestinian state on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.<\/p>\n<p>The Speaker pointed to recent diplomatic efforts that have opened pathways toward peace, referencing outcomes of the UN High-Level Conference and the New York Declaration, as well as mediation efforts led by the United States and supported by several Arab and Islamic countries including Pakistan. He emphasized Pakistan\u2019s support for a Gaza peace plan and the necessity of a credible, time-bound political process.<\/p>\n<p>Highlighting Pakistan\u2019s facilitation of regional dialogue, the Speaker expressed gratitude to the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States for responding to Prime Minister <strong>Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif<\/strong>\u2019s call for an immediate ceasefire and for participating in the Islamabad talks on 11\u201312 April. He described those talks as a historic breakthrough and urged all parties to sustain the ceasefire and continue constructive engagement for regional peace.<\/p>\n<p>On Afghanistan, the Speaker voiced concern over the deteriorating security environment and warned that Afghan territory continues to be exploited by terrorist groups, posing risks to neighbouring states.
