The Punjab Health Commission carried out a province-wide enforcement drive over six weeks, sealing 998 illegal clinics as part of an intensified campaign against quackery and unsafe medical practice. Enforcement teams raided 3,860 suspected centres, flagged 2,286 for ongoing monitoring and found 346 either closed, relocated or converted to other businesses.<\/p>\n
Operations covered both urban and rural areas with the largest action in Lahore, where teams inspected 645 sites and sealed 217 unauthorised clinics. In Faisalabad, 239 visits led to 62 closures while Khanewal saw 155 inspections and 52 clinics shut. Notable enforcement also resulted in closures of 48 centres in Sheikhupura, 47 in Kasur, 46 in Multan, 39 in Rawalpindi, 37 in Gujranwala, 36 in Bahawalpur, 33 in Sialkot and 30 each in Pakpattan and Sargodha. Additional raids and monitoring operations were reported in districts including Attock, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Narowal, Okara, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, Toba Tek Singh and Vehari.<\/p>\n
Punjab Health Commission<\/strong> officials said these actions form part of a broader strategy to eliminate quackery and shield the public from dangerous, unregulated treatments. Commission chief executive Dr. Muhammad Saqib Aziz<\/strong> stated that clinics identified for monitoring will be re-inspected to prevent unauthorised practitioners from resuming illegal services and to ensure only licensed professionals operate medical facilities.<\/p>\n The drive builds on the commission’s longer-term enforcement record: to date PHC teams have performed 246,529 inspections, sealed 69,045 illegal centres and prompted more than 30,600 quacks to abandon unlawful practice. Officials emphasised that the Punjab Health Commission will continue strict implementation of the law in close coordination with district administrations to raise care standards and protect patients across the province.<\/p>\n Civilians were urged to choose only PHC-registered and licensed clinics and to report suspected quackery immediately so enforcement teams can act.
