Dr. Shafi pointed to the high infant mortality rate in Pakistan, attributing it to inadequate nutrition and care.<\/p>\n
He noted that many newborns miss essential vaccinations, making them vulnerable to diseases such as diarrhea and pneumonia. These conditions, often preventable, can prove fatal in the absence of proper nutrition and medical attention.<\/p>\n
He stressed the critical importance of breastfeeding, advising that newborns should be given mother’s milk within the first hour of birth and exclusively for the first six months.<\/p>\n
