Abdul Rehman Sajid<\/strong> has retired from the Chashma Nuclear Power Plant Generating Station after a distinguished career that spanned three decades and multiple leadership roles. As a seasoned engineer who joined the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission in 1993, he leaves behind a record of operational excellence, technical mentoring and community engagement that strengthened the Chashma Nuclear complex and Pakistan’s nuclear power sector.<\/p>\n

Mr. Sajid earned his mechanical engineering degree from UET Taxila in 1990 and rose through the ranks starting as a shift engineer at the C-1 plant. He obtained a reactor operator license from the Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority in 2000 and later completed a master’s in mechanical engineering in 2006, the same year he qualified as a PNRA-licensed shift supervisor. His technical formation was further enhanced by advanced training visits to China, Japan, Australia and Korea, experiences he credited with sharpening his professional skills.<\/p>\n

Throughout his tenure at Chashma Nuclear, he assumed progressively responsible positions including shift supervisor for the C-2 plant from 2010 to 2013 and manager operations at C-2 from 2015 to 2020. Under his leadership the C-2 unit achieved a historic run of 400 consecutive days of safe and continuous operation, a milestone later matched under his charge when he returned as plant manager of C-1 in 2024. His operational stewardship was recognized with appreciation certificates from institutional peers and national honours.<\/p>\n

For his contributions to national defence and nuclear power development, Mr. Sajid was awarded the Tamgha-e-Baqa in 2000 and a gold medal in 2012 for outstanding services to Pakistan’s nuclear power sector. These awards reflect both his technical competence and his commitment to reliable, safe plant operations across multiple Chashma units.<\/p>\n

Beyond operations, his administrative capabilities led to an appointment as deputy plant manager at a 1100 MW Karachi nuclear project, and in 2025 he took charge as plant manager of C-4 where he prioritized safe, reliable generation while accelerating building and development projects to completion within tight timeframes. Colleagues note his continuous learning ethos and dedication to training younger staff as key elements of his legacy.<\/p>\n

Mr. Sajid’s influence extended into community life in Chashma Colony, where he played an active role in residential and development initiatives for plant staff and neighbours. His career is often described in terms of steadfast commitment: when duty demanded it he stood firm, and when progress required risk he led by example, leaving a lasting imprint on Chashma Nuclear and Pakistan’s civilian nuclear programme.<\/p>\n
