The civilian honour was presented by President Asif Ali Zardari at the Presidential Awards ceremony in Islamabad on May 13, acknowledging Nawaz’s role in elevating Pakistan’s profile in international F-Class competition.

Nawaz called the award a major milestone for the entire shooting community. He thanked his parents, coaches and supporters and dedicated the honour to aspiring athletes working in less-publicised sports who seek recognition and opportunity.

He credited recent progress in Pakistan’s shooting infrastructure to the patronage of Syed Asim Munir and the creation of the Pakistan Long Range Rifle Association, whose affiliation with the International Confederation of Fullbore Rifle Associations has opened doors for Pakistani competitors on the world stage.

Now preparing for the 2026 F-Class World Championship in the United Kingdom, Mohsin Nawaz is using the platform to advocate concrete reforms, including improved training facilities and reduced import duties on specialised equipment, so future generations of Pakistani shooters can compete on a level playing field.

Born in Faisalabad on August 23, 1986, Nawaz began competitive shooting in 2004 at the Pakistan Ordnance Factory shooting club in Wah. He has spent more than two decades building a reputation in a discipline that traditionally received limited institutional support, pursuing international competition through personal commitment, private sponsorships and self-funded campaigns while seeking professional coaching abroad.

Mohsin Nawaz currently holds 10 international individual medals in F-Class long-range shooting, the highest tally achieved by any Pakistani in the sport. His record includes podium finishes in the United States, South Africa and Europe, with medals at the European Long Range Shooting Championship and the prestigious Imperial Championship, and he equalled a European record during the 2023 European Long Range Championship.

At home Nawaz has dominated national events, winning multiple gold medals in PARA Army Championships, national long-range championships and benchrest competitions. He has set several national records, including standout performances at the 2025 F-Class National Long Range Shooting Championship in Jhelum.

Beyond competition, Mohsin Nawaz has taken an active role in promoting shooting sports in Pakistan. He recently joined Hawksmith Gun & Shooting Club as a brand ambassador to support the development of tactical training and precision shooting facilities, and serves internationally as an ambassador for KAHLES Sports Optics and Peregrine Bullets.

This recognition places long-range shooting further into Pakistan’s sporting conversation and strengthens calls for sustained investment, coaching and policy changes that Nawaz says are essential to nurture future champions.

Mohsin Nawaz becomes first shooter to receive Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, pushing long-range shooting forward and calling for better facilities and equipment support.

[94

post-18851","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-pakistan
["GET
