A three-day international conference on Life Sciences opened at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi, convening national and international scientists, policymakers, industry experts and students to focus on climate resilience, biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. The event, organized by the Faculty of Sciences at PMAS-AAUR in partnership with Himalaya Hemp & Health (Pvt.) Ltd. and Evolution EduTech Pakistan, follows the theme Bio-Innovations for a Changing Climate Science Sustainability and Solutions.<\/p>\n
Prof. Dr. Khalid M. Khan<\/strong> (S.I.), addressing the inaugural ceremony as chief guest, described climate change, biodiversity loss, food insecurity, glacier retreat and environmental degradation as defining challenges of our time. He stressed that scientific innovation, evidence-based policymaking and interdisciplinary collaboration are indispensable to build climate resilience and secure Pakistan\u2019s environmental future.<\/p>\n Vice Chancellor PMAS-AAUR Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman<\/strong> highlighted the urgent need for climate-smart scientific solutions to address Pakistan\u2019s mounting concerns in agriculture, water security and public health. He praised the Faculty of Sciences and the collaborating organizations for creating an internationally relevant forum that connects research with practical responses to local challenges.<\/p>\n In his welcome remarks, Prof. Dr. Rahmatullah Qureshi<\/strong>, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and chief organizer of ICELS-26, highlighted the transformative role universities play as engines of innovation and societal progress. He noted that Life Sciences research and strong global partnerships are central to tackling emerging diseases, food insecurity and environmental degradation.<\/p>\n Representing the U.S. State Department, Mr. Kevin Sessink commended ICELS-26 as an important platform for strengthening global scientific cooperation and creating opportunities for young researchers through interdisciplinary engagement and international exposure.
